Data Visualisation: done!
I got ArianeB’s permission to cite her web page as an inspiration for my work, and have included an appropriate reference in my video.
The only thing I’m not currently happy with is the size of the video display; it’s been formatted to the design confines of the Saul Bass inspired page template I chose for my tumblr, which has a groovy little animated film projector attached to it - but sadly keeps the dimensions of the video display quite small, obscuring some of the text in my reference section.
I still believe it was an appropriate choice for me to post my Data Visualisation in my blog, as it also allowed me to attach my Rationale blog via a single URL - to have uploaded it to Youtube with perhaps the Rationale in the description section would have looked clumsy.
There is probably some code which could adapt the dimensions of the video - or at least give an option to make it larger - so I may look into this at a later stage.
The reason I ultimately chose to use video to display my data was the filmic nature of my subject - Animation (While intially devised through repeated images, flick books and a device called a Zoetrope) was brought to the masses via the film format (The earliest being the Kinetoscope ), so in line with that, my own audience - the general public - will probably best fathom the data via a film format.
Also, Animation by definition suggests movement, so the moving image is also appropriate along these lines.
