I’m gunna back down off my beefs with this subject. I’m wondering what I can possibly hope to achieve? Change or alter the minds of the Eggheads foisting this upon us? Please. I’m here at Uni to receive, not to challenge. To be a sponge for ideas and concepts. Even if I strongly disagree with what a certain Lecturer is espousing.
I’ll say no more.
For Project A I’ve decided to use MySpace as my exhibition space (At least for now). I may explore Free Web Hosting spaces at a later stage. I’ve used coding in MySpace before, and feel it’s my best option because of the existing familiarity. It will allow me to display photos, video and text and fiddle around with CSS and tweak the design. I can even embed existing Myspace deisgn tweaks if I ever feel like my own CSS and HTML is not up to snuff.
My project will be a Dada database, on the history, nature and examples of this art movement in the early 20th Century. I have been looking at sites like http://www.manraytrust.com/ who now own the rights to all of this Dada artists’ images, and the http://sdrc.lib.uiowa.edu/dada/index.html (International Dada Archive), and will be approaching them to ask permission to use certain images on my website. I was hoping to use images from Wikipedia’s creative commons, but as that license only applies to the United states, I will have to find other means.
Javascript is not allowed on MySpace, but as I wont be trying to censor anything it shouldn’t be a problem. API will probably be useful to me as I can upload images to Flickr and used them as HTML on my Myspace page. This will be good for creating background images. That’s if I can work out how to use API of course.
